Book 8 Chapter 6 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

Remember Book 2 of this great adventure? It was only more than a year ago since I recorded it. Anyway, there was the character of Mr. Partridge, the schoolteacher who was accused of sleeping with Jenny Jones and therefore the likeliest candidate for Tom's father. Well, it turns out this Little Benjamin, the barber is, in fact, none other than... you guessed it! Partridge! But, to put an end to the speculation once and for all, he declares immediately that he is not Tom Jones' father. We all believe him, right? Because why should he lie now? He's already lost everything. Anyway, he requests he be allowed to travel with Tom on his journey, and Tom agrees.
