Book 8 Chapter 7 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

This week's chapter gives us further explanation of Partridge's motivations. Seems that he believes Allworthy is actually Tom's father, and therefore Allworthy would never have sent Tom away in the manner he did. Far more likely, Partridge imagines, that Tom has run away, and so Allworthy's plan is to return Tom to Allworthy, in order to get back into the squire's good graces.
