Book 12 Chapter 10 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Jones shares a drink with the lawyer Mr. Dowling. We are reminded that Dowling is the lawyer who delivered the news of the death of Miss Bridget Blifil years before. Tom tells Dowling his whole story, and Dowling concludes that there must be more at work in Blifil's character assassination than Tom is aware of. Tom doesn't pay him much heed, though, and rides off into the rainy night as soon as his horses are ready.
