Book 13 Chapter 2 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Tom finally finds his way to London, and when he arrives, manages to talk his way into the house of the Irish peer who brought Sophia into town. The woman he meets there, however, is not Sophia, but rather Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Fitzpatrick believes that Tom is Blifil, and therefore won't tell him anything about Sophia's whereabouts. Her maid then clues her in, but she decides that Tom is too much a rake to let see Sophia.
