Book 17 Chapter 2 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Blifil "regrets" to inform Squire Allworthy that Tom has killed someone in a duel, and is now sitting in a jail. Mrs. Miller hears Blifil's barely concealed accusation against Tom and can't hold back her defense for Tom, who saved her daughter and was a model tenant.
