Book 18 Chapter 4 of Tom Jones.

This is part of an ongoing project in which I will record and post one chapter per week of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones over the course of four years.

In this chapter, Allworthy receives a letter from Mr. Square, the erstwhile atheist philosophy instructor to young Tom and Blifil. Square recounts his impending death and confesses a grievous wrong to Allworthy. In quick succession, Allworthy receives another letter, this one from Mr. Thwackum, the religion instructor, who chides Allworthy for not raising Tom right, and then asks Allworthy for a job.
