Last week I traveled back to New York City for the Audiobook Publishers' Association Conference (APAC). The conference itself, as always, was full of informative sessions and structured networking activities, but as always for me it was mostly a time to reconnect with colleagues I know as well as to meet ones I don't.
The conference timed out serendipitously this year as well, since my parents happened to be visiting New York at the same time, so my visit also served as a nice family gathering.
I also got to attend the Audie Awards last Thursday night. The Audies is a black tie (optional) gala ceremony. At the ceremony itself, I wound up sitting between Simon Vance and Scott Brick, both of whom were nominated for Best Male Narrator (which Simon won for Alan Moore's 60+ hour Jerusalem). Also, the show was hosted by the amazing Paula Poundstone!
